Overview

AxiosSpend ("AxiosSpend", "we", "us", or "our") provides a UGX-native budgeting, expense tracking, and savings platform for individuals and teams. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our website and application, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. By using AxiosSpend, you agree to the practices described here.

Information We Collect

We collect information in the following ways:

• Account information — your full name, email address, phone number, and password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text) when you register.
• Financial data you enter — budgets, expenses, earnings, payees, wallets, and workspace details you create while using AxiosSpend. This data belongs to you; we don't sell it.
• Workspace and team data — invitations, roles, and activity within any shared workspace you create or join.
• Verification data — one-time passcodes sent to your email or phone (via our SMS provider) to confirm your identity or enable multi-factor authentication.
• Usage and device data — pages visited, browser type, and approximate location (via IP address), collected only through analytics cookies you've consented to.
• Support communications — anything you send us directly, such as emails to our support address.

How We Use Your Information

• To create and secure your account, and authenticate you at sign-in.
• To provide the core product — tracking budgets, expenses, earnings, wallets, and workspace collaboration.
• To send transactional messages: welcome emails, password resets, one-time passcodes, and payment or wallet notifications.
• To run scheduled background jobs (such as automatic payments or pending top-up checks) that you've configured.
• To understand aggregate product usage and improve AxiosSpend, using analytics cookies only after you opt in.
• To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents.
• To comply with legal obligations where applicable.

Cookies & Analytics

We use a small number of cookies, grouped into two categories:

• Strictly necessary cookies — keep you signed in and remember your cookie preference. These can't be switched off, as the app can't function without them.
• Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) — help us understand how AxiosSpend is used, in aggregate. These are off by default and only load after you accept them in the cookie banner.

You can change your choice at any time.

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal or financial data. We share information only with:

• Service providers who help us operate AxiosSpend — our database and hosting provider, transactional email provider, and SMS/OTP provider (EgoSMS) — bound to use your data only to provide these services.
• Other members of your workspace, limited to the financial data and activity relevant to a shared workspace you've joined.
• Analytics providers (Google Analytics), only if you've consented to analytics cookies, and only in aggregated or pseudonymous form.
• Authorities, if required by law, to protect our rights, or to prevent fraud or harm.

Data Retention

We retain your account and financial data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we're required to retain records for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes. Items you move to Trash within the app are retained temporarily before permanent deletion, consistent with the app's trash-retention behavior.

Security

Passwords are stored using industry-standard salted hashing — never in plain text. We support multi-factor authentication (MFA) for your account. Data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. While no system is perfectly secure, we work to protect your information using reasonable technical and organizational safeguards.

Your Rights & Choices

• Access and correction — review and update your profile information at any time from your account settings.
• Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us.
• Cookie choices — accept, reject, or change analytics cookie consent at any time via the "Manage cookie preferences" control above.
• Communication preferences — transactional emails (like security notices or OTPs) can't be turned off, as they're required for account security.

Children's Privacy

AxiosSpend is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes, we'll make reasonable efforts to notify you.
